People think that if you work hard and go above and beyond and dedicate your life to the company that your work ethic will be appreciated. That could not be further from the truth. In fact, just the opposite is true. People that put in late nights and weekends and those who take on extra job duties are looked upon as suckers by corporate managers -- People who can be pushed around and used. And the sad fact is that the hardest workers sacrifice so much in the way of time with their family and friends - Many even sacrifice vacation time, bringing their work with them, never fully unwinding because they think that by doing so it will put them in a good light with their boss. What many don't understand is that an employee, any employee good bad or indifferent is nothing more than a tool -- a cog in the corporate wheel. The company's mission is to extract as much from the employee as possible while paying them as little as possible. And when there is no further use for that person, cut them off. It doesn't matter how dedicated they are.
