How do I even begin writing this description… Four years ago, on June 8th, I beat my first Extreme Demon: Sonic Wave. At the time, I had no idea that a single level would end up shaping my entire journey in Geometry Dash. For years, Sonic Wave was more than just my favourite level, it was my motivation, my obsession, and the driving force behind my growth as a player. That journey took me further than I ever imagined. Two years after beating Sonic Wave, I became the #15 best player in the world and the #1 hispanic player at the time. I went from being a casual, generic level showcaser to one of the best players in the game. If I could show this story to my 10 year old self while semi-autoing 8o and calling it my hardest, he would never believe a single word of it. Because of how much this level meant to me, I set myself a goal: beat as many Sonic Wave versions as possible. What started as a challenge quickly turned into an obsession. 10 Sonic Waves. 25. 30. 45. 49. And finally, 50... ending with the hardest Sonic Wave ever beaten. The road to this point was far from enjoyable. I forced myself through some of the worst levels I have ever played: SWI (rated), The Invincible, Sonic Ship, Unnerfed Sound Wave Destroyer, UnbreakAbility, Uneswarc, and more. But those experiences never stopped me. Instead, they strengthened my mindset and turned me into the player I am today. I don’t regret beating any single one of them. I chose the number 50 to give this insanity a proper, deserved ending, finishing with the hardest Sonic Wave I have ever played: SWI Slithium. This level is absolutely brutal. I genuinely don’t know what Riot or Slithium were smoking when they made this version (which was made before APTeam’s was considered official), but it pushes Sonic Wave to an entirely different level. Back in 2022, when I promised I would beat every Sonic Wave, I included this one without truly believing it was possible for me. Today, that promise has become reality. This completion means everything to me. It marks the end of an era, the closing chapter of a journey that began in 2021. I can’t imagine a better way to finish what I started all those years ago. As for the level itself, it needs no introduction. From the start of the drop, it delivers the most absurd and unforgiving wave gameplay I have ever played. The worst part is that the difficulty increases exponentially when playing from 0%. While playing from 28% is already insanely stupid, playing from 0% felt like someone held a gun in my head for every single click I had to do. To put its difficulty into perspective: beating this level is easily harder than beating APTeam’s SWI three times in a row, or even The Golden three times in a row. My first encounter with this level was in 2022, after watching Photonic beat Meltryllis Dance, a challenge consisting of the first wave of this level. Verified by my friend Hyperlith, it felt completely impossible when I first played it. One year later, I beat the challenge. Two years after that, I beat the entire damn level.
