Officer Involved Shooting: Chief McManus press briefing

One person was shot by police following a pursuit on the city's North Side. According to Police Chief McManus, the Covert Unit was tracking two people, who were both wanted for violent offenses. One had an active warrant for aggravated assault. McManus says officers observed them coming out of an HEB near Melrose Place and Howard Street. They attempted to enter a stolen vehicle when they noticed officers and fled. Both suspects ran behind a nearby apartment complex. One of the suspects pulled out a weapon and that's when an SAPD officer fired one round and shot the suspect, according to McManus. Both suspects are in custody.
