Hike to Monte Migon: a challenge between wild nature and history. Geographical location Monte Migon, also known as Migogn, stands majestically at 2384 meters in the heart of the Dolomites, within the Marmolada Group. Located in the Province of Belluno, in Veneto, it is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. This peak represents the eastern end of the Padon chain, overlooking the Val Pettorina and the Alta Via delle Creste. Its slopes offer a fascinating contrast between the steep rocky cliffs to the west and the green grassy slopes to the south. Hike The hike to Monte Migon, via trail 636 of the Alta Via delle Creste, is an intense and rewarding experience. The route, very steep and challenging, is recommended only for expert hikers in good physical condition. During the winter, the risk of avalanches makes this route particularly dangerous. However, at other times of the year, the effort is amply rewarded by a 360° panoramic view that embraces all of the Dolomites. This itinerary, immersed in a secluded and less traveled environment, is ideal for those seeking tranquility and direct contact with wild nature. Along the way, you can admire extraordinary views that include: Sella, Conturines, Lagazuoi, Averau, Nuvolau, Antelao, Pelmo, Civetta and Marmolada. The characteristic grassy humps of Monte Migon offer a unique view, in stark contrast to the typical rocky landscapes of the Dolomites. The route along the ridge not only offers spectacular scenery, but also requires a good dose of physical preparation and a sure step, given the exposure and the considerable difference in altitude. It is important to pay attention, as the signage may be insufficient in some sections, thus requiring experience in navigating rarely traveled mountain paths. History Another fascinating aspect of Monte Migon is its historical relevance. Along the Sentiero delle Creste, you can come across war posts and tunnels dating back to the First World War, transforming the excursion into a sort of "open-air museum". These historical testimonies offer a moving look at the harsh reality of the conflict that took place in these mountains, further enriching the hiker's experience. ROUTE From Soppera (1448 m) you go up on an asphalt road passing the hamlets of Dagai, Val and Davare. You reach the last available car park and take the path that leads to Sass de la Gusela. Here we find the first sign for Monte Migon - Sentiero delle Creste. Shortly after, you join the 636 that comes from the Ronch area and climb up to the summit of Monte Migon (2384 m). You continue on the ridges up to Tabié dal Lof (2322 m) where you descend to Malga Laste (1868 m). Now all we have to do is go back through the Migon Refuge (1660 m).
