Roz Dimon speaks to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in January 2026 where 12 of her Lincoln Expressionistic Portraits (2020-2021) are now part of their permanent collection. Georgia-born, New York-based artist Roz Dimon—pioneer of new media art and creator of the DIMONscape—unites traditional drawing with digital innovation to explore themes at the crossroads of technology, spirit, and society. Known for works in the 9/11 Memorial Museum and collections nationwide, Dimon’s art often blends historical figures with contemporary contexts. 12 portraits drawn with a digital pen are part of a series created between December 2020 and February 2021 and inspired by Alexander Gardner’s 1863 photograph of Abraham Lincoln. Dimon's hand moves from abstraction to clarity, interweaving Lincoln’s image with text influenced by headlines and quotations from a time of political unrest and social upheaval. Each portrait reimagines Lincoln’s iconic bow tie, transforming it into a recurring motif of individuality and resilience. The work invites viewers to consider leadership, unity, and equality— reminding us that the challenges of the past can inspire strength and connection in the present.
