On board footage from Ginetta Track Day Experience in their G40 GRDC championship car at the Blyton Park test track near Gainsborough. 1.8 Ford Zetec engine with 135bhp in tubular spaceframe chassis with fibreglass bodywork weighing 860kg makes for an agile and entertaining car to drive. Circuit was short and twisty with a varied combination of corners that really allowed the handling capabilities of the car to be fully experienced. Many thanks to Sennan Fielding for the pointers from the passenger seat - even though it was pretty much impossible to hear what he was actually saying most of the time! Hand gestures - and then the de-brief afterwards pretty much did the job though. First session lap of 1.19.7 was reduced to 1.18.6 in second session - with more time to find in the chicanes and maximizing braking efficiency/corner entry speeds generally. Got some advice and a couple of demo laps at the end of the day from Mike Simpson too (he did a 1.13.5!!) - which would certainly make it possible to knock a bit more time off on any subsequent visit to the track. Shame it's such a long way from home! RM ;)
