Recently, he took up a new assignment in the Republic of Ireland as a Consultant Microbiologist. He served as joint Head of School of Laboratory Medicine, Health Education North East, England and Clinical Lecturer in Newcastle University. He has been a visiting faculty to the Centre for Environment, IITG. He is known for his professional work in the field of Medical Microbiology, particularly in the arra of Antimicrobial Resistance, Antimicrobial Stewardship and Hospital Acquired Infections. He had several publications including published work carried out in the Guwahati Medical College Hospital in 2010. In addition to his MBBS degree from Guwahati (1989), he has two MSc degrees (Manchester 1996 and Newcastle 2019), two Diplomas (Dundee 2010 and London 2009) and a PhD (Guwahati 2011). He is a Fellow of Royal College of Pathologists. One of his collaborative paper is the highest cited papers in medical literature (more than 4000 citations according to Google Scholar). Above all, he is intimately connected with the social life of Assamese society for over two decades conducting workshops, participating in grassroot meetings, writing on socio-cultural issues.
