Natural soap colourants: Using Himalayan Rhubarb extract to try and colour cold process soap pink

Today we are using ground Himalayan Rhubarb extract to create a naturally coloured, pink/red soap. The ground Himalayan Rhubarb which we are using in today's video was kindly gifted to us by Suzanne Dekel of www.suzannedekel.com she runs a website selling a huge range of fair trade, organic, natural dyes, many of which can be used for soap making. We were very excited to make today's soap and see what shade of pink/red we could create with Himalayan Rhubarb. We infused our Himalayan Rhubarb into olive oil at a ratio of 100 parts olive oil to 1 part Himalayan Rhubard extract. We then replaced the olive oil portion of our soap recipe with the infused Himalayan Rhubarb olive oil. It is so nice to be able to use natural plant extracts and dyes to colour cold process soap naturally. We will be expanding our natural colour palette and testing a lot more natural dyes and colourants this year.
