The goal of these warm ups is to allow the musicians to gain comfort in many left hand/finger movements in connection with the bow. These warm ups were composed to be played sequentially but can be done out of order and with skips. The finger pattern is the same within each exercise so after the exercise is mastered by everyone I will often just do 1-2 keys in each exercise. Check it out in my TPT at this link: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/P... Covered Topics: Violin/Viola - 4th finger, slurs, double stops, string crossing, vibrato (1st, 2nd, 3rd finger), shifting to 3rd Cello - slurs, double stops, string crossing, vibrato (1st, 3rd, 4th finger), shifting to 2nd and 3rd Bass - slurs, double stops, string crossing, vibrato (1st, 4th finger), shifting to 3rd and 4th Also included: Tuning Sequence 2 octave D major scale 1 octave F Major 2 Octave F Major Scale (CODA audition for Viola/Cello/Bass) Advantages of this method: Violins & Violas gain accuracy in using their 4th finger by tuning against others and also their self. All instruments get practice shifting. Scaffolding built in to each exercise & between exercises. (slow-fast-slur-long slur) The longer note values at the start of every excise make tuning finger positions a priority. The name Mosaic comes from the idea that each instrument family is working on a different concept (tessera) at any time but harmonically each family works together. Tesserae are collections of these individual parts that can be played on top of each other. In this warm up the differences between parts are minimal.
