This video will teach you how to create a starburst effect off of lights or how to create a sunburst effect. Whether it's starburst videos or starburst pictures, starburst photography requires you to have the correct aperture settings for starbursts to happen. What's causing this photography starburst effect or video starburst effect is the starburst aperture setting of your camera. What's happening to cause the starburst effect is diffraction of light, which is caused when lights waves travel through a small opening light your aperture ring. When the aperture is stopped down around f/16-f/22, the light waves are diffracted causing them to spread out in a star shaped pattern when they hit the camera sensor. Aside from having the correct aperture settings for starbursts, the best times to get the starburst effect from the sun is to get the sunburst effect when the sun is low in the sky such as at early morning or late afternoon. Another way to enhance sunbursts or starbursts is to partially obscure the starburst behind an object to give more contrast to the scene and bring out the light rays more. When you start to edit your photoshop starburst effect, you'll notice that different lenses create different numbers of starburst points. An even number of aperture blades will create that same number of sunburst points, but an odd number of aperture blades will create double the starburst points of aperture blades in the lens.
