Genesis 25:1-6 – Is it Okay to Marry Again?

When that young bride and groom repeat their vows at their wedding ceremony, they are thinking about the many years of happiness they will spend together. After the honeymoon, they enjoy time as a married couple. Then children arrive and they start growing a family. As time goes by, the children grow up and move out to start their own families. The couple begins a new adventure that includes just the two of them and visits with grandchildren. As the years pass, the couple grows older and there is the real possibility that one of them will pass away before the other. When that finally happens, everything changes. Without the companionship of their spouse, there is a feeling of emptiness that never quite goes away. After some time passes, the widowed spouse wonders if marrying again might be an option. But after being faithful to the same person for so many years, it doesn’t seem right. Is it okay to marry again? Thankfully, God gives us some insight about this question in the Bible.
