Three patients discuss their experiences with cancer immunotherapy: pembrolizumab (Keytruda) for stage 4 lung cancer, pembrolizumab (Keytruda) for advanced melanoma, and nivolumab (Opdivo) for stage 3 esophageal cancer. https://www.cancerresearch.org/summit #CRIsummit #immunotherapy Dorothy Fabian learned she had stage 3 esophageal cancer in March 2019 and enrolled in a clinical trial. Her family was vital to her decision-making and ensuring that she made her appointments and completed her treatments. Oswald Peterson received his first immunotherapy treatment in March 2017 for three months. Scans showed that cancer shrank dramatically after the second infusion. Oswald says immunotherapy is a "lifesaver." Tara Ryan shares her experience with advanced melanoma, which then spread to her brain. She was one of the early recipients of the newly approved drug, pembrolizumab (Keytruda). She describes the power of social media and community for support throughout her treatment and survivorship. Brian Brewer, director of marketing and communications at the Cancer Research Institute, moderated. The 2019 CRI Immunotherapy Summit in New York City was held at NYU Langone Health Perlmutter Cancer Center on September 7, 2019.
