Monstar, why you effectively behave similarly to Jr. Troopa here? .-. CantWin is a File Code in Dark Star Edition that sets you to level 27, gives you all 128 badges, and the 5 unlockable stones immediately (all but Greed, Badge, and Rainbow). However, in return, it forces all encounters to be at least 4.5x difficulty, the equivalent of Super + Mega Curse. Equipping Curse badges does NOT stack with this multiplier, but if you equip Ultra + Mega Curse or all 3 Curses, you will do a fight on that respective difficulty instead of the innate 4.5x difficulty that CantWin forces. Monstar has 16 Base HP, 25 Base Attack, and 6 Defense. HP and Attack scale up to 144 and 99 respectively on 9x difficulty. Monstar's attack pierces invisibility, and while it takes +1 Damage from Throws due to being an Aerial enemy, it's immune to Star-type attacks. Monstar is also the first enemy who has Unpierceable Defense in the case of this CantWin run. Even when intentionally lowering damage output by not using Mega Bounce, Monstar is still a joke. He's essentially just like Jr. Troopa here, whom we fought previously. He only deals 1 instance of damage per turn, and we reduce its damage from 99 to 22 just like before. Heck, I didn't even reset to get my items back in between Jr. Troopa and this fight! This should go to show just how easy this fight becomes in CantWin. Since I'm using an immortal build again, Mega Jump is the attacking move of choice here. Mega Smash and Dark Smash would obviously do better; but unfortunately, Monstar is not able to be hit by normal Hammer strikes. This is despite the appearance of how close it seems to be relative to the ground. Still, even despite only having the Super Boots, Mega Jump is good enough to get the job done here. Crazy Heart and Mega HP Drain ensure that I can always get back to full HP with regen active. Power Rush makes up for the loss of Attack, and Danger Saver and Flower Burst reduce move costs. Finally, Weather Shield prevents Mario's Attack from decreasing due to the chilly environment. The remaining 6 Yoshi Biscuits and Dark Shroom Cakes that I had after defeating Jr. Troopa are what I used here, with Double Dip ensuring that I use 1 of each just like before. I reset after this fight to get all 10 of both back. There are 2 partners you need: Lakilester who uses Cloud Nine, and Goombario who uses Megabonk. Quick Change is used to ensure you don't lose any turns with Partner swaps.
