This video provides an extensive analysis on the writings of the 20th century British-Austrian economic philosopher and political economist Friedrich Hayek, exploring how his theories influenced the rise and hegemony of Neoliberalism in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Additionally, Hayek's controversial (and often contradictory) relations to the Social Darwinist and Eugenic movements of his time are also explored in how they came to shape his understandings of cultural evolution, market order and societal arrangement. The main scholars I cite are; Friedrich Hayek (political economic analysis), Naomi Beck (theoretical evolutionary analysis), Stephen L. Muzzatti (sociological analysis). • The Constitution of Liberty (Friedrich Hayek, 1960) • Hayek and the Evolution of Capitalism (Naomi Beck, 2018) • The Violence of Neoliberalism: Crime, Harm and Inequality (Stephen L. Muzzatti, 2019) Please like, subscribe and share this video. Thank you. 0:00 - Introduction 15:03 - Hayek and Social Darwinism 36:07 - Hayek and Biopolitical Modernity 1:02:53 - Closing Remarks
