For the first time, European states decided that the best way to avoid future wars was to bring all interested nations together and commit to preventing them—an idea that has survived to this day. The work of the congress was interspersed with feasts, dinners, balls, and receptions held by the Austrian court, Viennese nobles, and the many delegations in attendance. This festive atmosphere gave rise to the famous image of the "Dancing Congress." ———💃——— Im Schloss SCHÖNBRUNN, in der Hauptstadt des Kaisertums Österreich, entsandten die europäischen Großmächte vom 1. November 1814 bis zum 9. Juni 1815 ihre Vertreter zum historischen Wiener Kongress, um die Geopolitik Europas neu zu ordnen. Zum ersten Mal beschlossen die europäischen Staaten, dass der beste Weg zur Vermeidung künftiger Kriege darin bestand, alle betroffenen Nationen an einen Tisch zu bringen – eine Idee, die bis heute fortbesteht.
