We restore our intake manifolds on this 2 liter carbureted engine. It starts with stud removal. Take the studs to plate or replace them, then send the cleaned manifolds to a powder coater. The powder coat fills in all the imperfections in the mag manifold. Then, using a mill and the flywheel type cutter, we touch off the manifold first. Take a super light pass to find the high spots. Then work back and forth, with light cuts. Be aware that on the carburetor side you can go too far with your cut! If you find that the throttle linkage is rubbing or stopped on the manifold, you can relive a slot for the linkage. But it is better not to have to cut a slot, so go easy on your cuts. When putting the manifold onto the engine it starts with a gasket, phenolic, then another gasket. The phenolic insulator is a must!
