This 10th century BC amphora found at the site of Khirbet Qeiyafa to the south east of Jerusalem contains an inscription of the name Eshbaal/Ishbosheth, son of Beda. This vessel helps to support the use of this biblical name (found in 1st Chronicles 8 & 9 and 2nd Samuel 3 & 4) in the 10th century BC when king Saul (whose son was called Eshbaal/Ishbosheth) and king David reigned over the united kingdom of Israel.
