A young and active prosthetic leg user shares is experiences during rehabilitation. His therapist and his orthotic and prosthetic technician explain what's important during rehabilitation with a prosthetic leg. They talk about how to take the first steps with a mechatronic leg prosthesis. The user describes his feelings, expectations and challenges he faced during the gait training and therapy sessions. For example when his therapist went outdoors with him and trained him how to handle stairs and slopes. The therapist explains how he starts and plans the rehabilitation for each patient. At the beginning it is important to gain a feeling of safety which is the main challenge during the rehabilitation phase to gain trust into the prosthesis. Step by step, the user learns how to move outside and to deal with daily challenges like stairs or slopes. During the rehabilitation phase the O&P professional collaborates with the therapist. The O&P professional focuses on the prosthesis and adapts it to the users needs from the technical side, while the therapist knows exactly how to support the user and get the most out of the prosthetic training. The therapist and the O&P professional are supporting the user to reach the highest possible mobilty and individual quality of life.
