Unissued / unused footage - dates and locations may be unknown / unclear. 1944 / 1945? Resistance Operations. Two men in civvies walk through wooded area in countryside and pick up rucksacks hidden beneath a bush. They undo them and take out parts of a radio set. They set it up and one sends signals on the set (he wears headphones) while the other sits by with a pistol. Two other men in a tent seem to be receiving the message and write it down, looking jubilant. An aeroplane drops cylinders (bombs) that float to earth with parachutes. A group of men in siren suits with white armbands fold up the parachutes and take them away. They carry the heavy canisters off with some difficulty - must be explosives. A man stands watch with a rifle. Back at their camp the men unload guns and ammunition from the cylinders, as well as tins and food packages. They pass some chocolate and cigarettes around. The empty canisters are dumped in a river. Cut to shots of a town where a group of people stand outside a German barracks. The soldiers confer then set off in trucks and the people watch them go. A group of resistance fighters march off through the town to the empty barracks and take them over. They drill on the parade ground. The leaders go into the main office headquarters and use the telephone. They find radio sets and telephone sets in the desk drawers. The resistance fighters seem to have rounded up the few Germans left in the barracks and stand guard with them. One is in civilian clothes - he looks quite defiant and refuses to answer questions. A German soldier looks like he has been beaten up. FILM ID:2159.02 A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV.
