Pre-race Post-race interview Winner ceremony RACE SUMMARY (SPOILER ALERT) (SPOILER ALERT) (SPOILER ALERT) (SPOILER ALERT) (SPOILER ALERT) (SPOILER ALERT) France’s Lou Jeanmonnot starting behind Sprint winner Hanna Oeberg in this afternoon’s Ruhpolding Women’s 10 Km Pursuit, took charge with a clean first prone stage and despite a late challenge from the Swede, prevailed, taking a 29:26.6 victory. The Yellow Bib’s only flaw came with a penalty in the last standing stage of her second pursuit victory of the season. Disappointed with Last Standing Penalty The winner was not especially pleased with herself after missing a shot in the final standing stage. “My main goal was clean shooting in the last shoot. I know it is very important here. That’s why I am not really happy because everything otherwise was great.” Last loop, “I gave everything and it was enough” In the last loop, she was concerned about Hanna closing the gap. “I was not feeling so good. I know my best part is the finish line, so I was trying to save a little bit for this. In the end, she did not catch me on the last uphill, so I gave everything I had at this moment, and it was enough.” Hanna, with three penalties finished second, 10.5 seconds back after trying in vain to close the gap on Jeanmonnot on the last loop. Jeanmonnot’s teammate, Camille Bened shot clean in third place, 12.9 seconds back. Norway’s Maren Kirkeeide, with one penalty finished fourth, 17 seconds back, further strengthening her position atop the Blue Bib (under 23) standings. Switzerland’s Amy Baserga equaled th second-best result of her career for the third time this season, finishing fifth, 33.8 seconds back with two penalties. France added a third athlete to the Flower Ceremony with two-penalty Oceane Michelon sixth, 34.9 seconds back. Jeanmonnot sets the Tone The only change for pursuit day from the rest of the week was a bit more breeze on the range. One penalty in the first prone for Hanna ceded the lead immediately to the clean-shooting Jeanmonnot by 7 seconds. That set the tone for the remainder of the competition as the French star got the best of her rival on the shooting range, keying the victory. Jeanmonnot took total control in the second prone with five perfect shots while Hanna who clawed her way back even with Jeanmonnot added two more penalties, dropping off the pace. Elvira and Lisa Vittozzi moved to second and third, 17 and 18 seconds back. One Penalty and Victory The Yellow Bib left no question about who was in charge in the first standing, cleaning with a steady cadence, stretching her lead to 33 seconds, Hanna rebounded to second with a clean stage. Jeanmonnot’s one penalty and Hanna’s fast, clean final standing stage, closed the gap to 9 seconds. Hanna tried in vain to catch Jeanmonnot in the last loop but settled for second with 20-for-20 Bened third. #simplylovelylou #biathlonwomen
