Spaceship Earth, one of EPCOT’s opening day attractions, first welcomed guests in 1982 and has been updated multiple times to reflect the progress of communication and technology. This 16-minute Omnimover-style dark ride uses lifelike Audio-Animatronics and stunning visuals to bring history to life. From the printing press to the moon landing, you’ll experience the defining moments that shaped our world. Spaceship Earth at Epcot is housed within a massive geodesic sphere, affectionately referred to as the EPCOT giant golf ball. The sphere itself is designed to collect rainwater, channeling it into EPCOT’s World Showcase Lagoon. Spaceship Earth was originally narrated by Vic Perrin, with updates over the years featuring the voices of Walter Cronkite and Jeremy Irons before Judi Dench took over in 2008. Opened on October 1, 1982, Epcot is one of the four major theme parks at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Originally conceived by Walt Disney as the “Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow,” the park is dedicated to human achievement, technological innovation, and global culture. Epcot is divided into two main sections: Future World, which focuses on technology and innovation, and World Showcase, which highlights the diversity of cultures and traditions from around the world. Epcot is known for its educational and immersive attractions, thrilling rides like Soarin’ Around the World and Test Track, and seasonal events like the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival.
