‘Vamudhara’ song is an independent initiative of Kulcha Houz Studios to celebrate Zimbabwe’s adoption of a new national currency backed by gold, which is aptly called ‘Zimbabwe Gold’ or ZiG for short. The proprietor of Kulcha Houz Studios is Trust Samende, a renowned guitarist and the music director of Zimbabwe’s internationally acclaimed band, Mokoomba. The national currency is a momentous and important development for ordinary Zimbabweans in that for the first time since its currency challenges dating back to the early 2000s, Zimbabwe now has new money for everyone which has the best chance of enabling the country to turn a new page because it is backed by gold. To make the initiative happen, Kulcha Houz Studios requested JN Moyo to compose the celebratory song; and later approached some of the country’s amazingly talented artists who all graciously agreed to perform and record the song. In particular, a special request was made to Prudence Katomeni Mbofana to be the lead singer backed by an illustrious cast of nine special Zimbabwean artists that included: Sandra Ndebele, Allan Chimbetu, Jeyz Marabani, Rudo Madindi, Dt Bio Mudimba, Mary Anibal, Bryan Kadengu, Hansel ‘Ma9’ Ndlovu and the Joyful Praise Choir. The song was recorded at Kulcha Houz Studios in Harare; and produced by a team of producers led by Trust Samende, as the project coordinator and overall producer, working with JN Moyo, Kudakwashe Gonye –aka- Gangsta Madeit, Daniel Chiweda, Cornelius Muponda and Clive Mono Mukundu. Guitarists Mathew Ngorima and Sylent Nqo, and vocal arranger Gamaliel Madindi, served as session musicians during the recording of the song.
