Pulling the batteries even when it's not malfunctioning is the only way to shut it off). Because of the fact it usually happens after sitting for a while, as in a few to several hours, a while, it's very hard to catch it doing the malfunction (just keeps firing, a full ten seconds, over and over and over till you pull the batteries) and it's very dangerous to even try. I'll try to do my best, but the dangerous nature of it makes it very hard. I'm not comfortable leaving the room with it alone. It could literally burn the house down.
