This Claypot Rice Was NOT What We Were Expecting

My girlfriend and I ate some claypot rice in Phu Nhuan District, Saigon, Vietnam. We saw the sign that read “cơm thố chợ lớn”, and we excitedly turned around to try some claypot rice with high expectations. But once we were eating this Vietnamese dish, we realized that it was not what we were expecting. We ate these Vietnamese rice bowls on Phan Xích Long Street in Phú Nhuận District, Ho Chi Minh City. This street is very popular and has lots of great Vietnamese and international restaurants to choose from. The claypot rice dishes that we ate were piping hot and served in a metal pot as opposed to the expected clay pot. We got a combo which included one char siu and rice bowl, one chicken and rice bowl, two soups, and two herbal teas. The meal was also served with some surprisingly delightful orange cabbage, and an interesting mixture of soy sauce and peanuts. We payed 166k vnd ($6.97) total for the combo.
