This video shows a normal day in my weld shop on a current project. I’m welding shelf units each one is 144 inches long and needs 96 linear feet of welding. While I’m working, I walk you through the real mistakes people make when transitioning from arc welding to laser welding. I show what happens when you laser weld poorly prepped material, pinholes everywhere and why that’s an instant reject under structural code. Then I show the wrong joint design for laser welding and the deformation it creates after only a few passes, compared to the correct joint configuration with virtually zero distortion.
