Her impressive career has seen her become the first Muslim woman to serve in a British cabinet, as well as a vocal campaigner for issues ranging from gender equality to interfaith dialogue. Born in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, in 1971, Baroness Warsi is the daughter of Pakistani immigrants. She was active in Conservative Party politics from a young age, and in 2005, she became the youngest person to be appointed as a member of the Conservative Party's national executive committee. In 2010, Baroness Warsi was appointed as co-chair of the Conservative Party and was made a life peer, becoming the youngest member of the House of Lords. Later that year, she was appointed as Minister without Portfolio and became the first Muslim woman to serve in a British cabinet. During her time in government, she worked on issues such as community cohesion, human rights, and social justice.
