West Colton Yard Humping in Action! Railfanning West Colton 9/25/2021

After having a look at the Southern Pacific steam locomotive, I ventured over to another piece of SP Railroading history, the West Colton Hump Yard. The second largest yard on the SP system, it sees some of the highest lumber traffic, chemical traffic, and finished goods traffic ever on the national rail network. Today we had quite the special group of visitors, being an EMDX demonstrator "Banana" unit, coupled to a Canadian National SD75I, and KCSM GEVO. They backed onto the UP's famed Alhambra Subdivsion, before pulling into the yard for an assignment. During this move, the Banana got crewed up, and the EMDX led this move into the departure yard, a sight that as far as I know hasn't occurred ever on the west coast. This is certainly the best consist of my railfanning career, and how fitting to be on my home, and favorite UP line of the Alhambra Subdivision. Other UP trains are also seen, as well as a 5 minute clip of cars being broken up in the arrival yard and send over the hump for classification. I hope you enjoyed and thanks for watching!
