Gebrueder Bruder 80 Keyless Band Organ

In its prime, Coney Island was home to a number of outstanding band organs. This Bruder is one of them. Note the unique dancing rotating couples on top of the organ. This 80 keyless Bruder was acquired for a large Illions carousel known as the Superba. Both were sold by William F. Mangles. This carousel was the only one ever made with illuminated horses. The horses had bulbs inside that lit up the jewels on the horse! Also on this carousel was another large Bruder, a large Frati, and a Gavioli. When the carousel was broken up, the Bruder was sold to an early collector in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. It later became the first band organ acquired by the Sanfillippo Collection. Enjoy it playing the, "Skater's Waltz" and picture Coney Island in its heyday, circa 1911 when a stroll down Surf Avenue would have exposed you to some of the finest band organs ever made!
