Telangana Outrage: 500 Stray Dogs Allegedly Killed After Elections | News9

A major controversy has erupted in Telangana after around 500 stray dogs were allegedly killed in Kamareddy and Hanamkonda districts following local elections. Investigations suggest that sarpanches and local representatives hired people to cull the dogs using lethal injections, allegedly to fulfil election promises of eliminating stray dog and monkey menace. Cases have been registered against 15 people under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. Veterinary teams have exhumed the carcasses for post-mortem, and samples are being tested at the Forensic Science Laboratory. The Supreme Court has recently stressed lawful measures for stray dog management, highlighting accountability and condemning illegal culling.
