Richmond is a city in British Columbia, Canada, and the site of Vancouver International Airport. Known for its Asian influences, it’s home to the International Buddhist Temple, Asian eateries and shops cluster in the Golden Village district. During the 2010 Winter Olympics, the Richmond Olympic Oval was a venue for the long track speed skating events. With a population of around 200,000, Richmond is Vancouver’s fourth largest city. It also has Canada’s most concentrated immigrant population, with close to 60% of its population being born overseas. As a result, Chinese, not English, is the most common first language in this important Lower Mainland city.
