Enjoy my 50th recreation! Ravine Flyer operated at Waldameer in Erie, Pennsylvania, from 1922 to 1938. John Miller, who loved terrain coasters, designed Ravine Flyer. In August of 1938, a 19-year-old man died after falling or jumping from the bottom of one of the ravine drops when the coaster rolled back after failing to clear the next hill. He fell about 20 feet to the road below. The ride did not reopen. As with all recreations, there's no making it 100% accurate. This was a difficult one because there are only a handful of photos of it, most of the ravine drops from slightly different angles. I did find a high-quality aerial photo taken when the sun was almost directly above, so the shadows are minimal. Nevertheless, I was able to discern a longer section of tall track before the first ravine drop. Knowing Miller and his love for double-downs into ravines (Mountain Dip at Rocky Glen, Jack Rabbit at Kennywood), I figured that was a double-down. The terrain is recreated from the aerial photo and a visit to Waldameer during an enthusiast event that held a walkback to the terrain by Ravine Flyer II's first drop and twisted finale.
