The lyrics are not in any known language; they come from Lisa Gerrard’s own universe. I find that fascinating and deeply relatable, because I’ve always shared that same instinct, to sing in my own language. Ever since I was a child, I’ve invented words and still continue to create my personal language in my songs. Music doesn’t need words to explain emotions or landscapes; we can communicate beyond explanations. That’s what this track means to me, it moves us all, even if we don’t understand the words. Having had the chance to film in this Roman theater was an absolute dream. I’m endlessly grateful to have been welcomed there. I’m very sensitive to places and their history, and singing in a space where, thousands of years ago, other artists once did the same truly moved me.
