The group originated in Jim Crockett Promotions, a cornerstone of the NWA (National Wrestling Alliance). When Barry Windham turned heel on partner Lex Luger, Windham officially joined the Horsemen. Not long after this unforunately Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard left for the World Wrestling Federation where they were dubbed the Brainbusters. Barry mentions the reason for so many wrestlers leaving Crockett at this time was because word got out how much the Road Warriors (Hawk and Animal) were making.
