Explained: How to Tell If Your At-Home COVID-19 Test Is Actually Expired

Is your COVID-19 rapid test kit expired? Maybe, and maybe not. DO NOT just go by the date on the box. Why? Because some expiration dates were extended - some by six months, according to the FDA. In this video, we explain what’s happening. And, we show you how to check your rapid test, like this: 1.) Find the date on the box. It might be next to an hourglass icon. 2.) If it’s still good, well, good. But if the date has passed, you might still be able to use it. 3.) Open this FDA link: https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/c... 4.) Find, your manufacturer and test type in the first column, then scroll to the far right. 5.) Click the link for expiration dates and cross reference your LOT number (on the box). If the test is still good, write the new expiration date on the box. If it’s expired, you can just trash it (or recycle the recyclable components).
