SAXON were there at the inception of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, arguably releasing the first full length album from the scene with their eponymous debut in 1979. They spearheaded the movement during its formative years, but as the 1980s rolled on the band faded somewhat from view, yet they never really went away. Through lineup changes, various label contracts, and exploration of different sonic pathways, England's favorite blue-collar sons carried on, eventually returning to their roots and remaining firmly planted to this day as one of the stalwarts of traditional, no-frills, heavy metal. Darcy Six Strings Nine Lives leads the charge through a catalog as long as it is storied. 40+ years and a couple of dozen albums.... we'd better get started.
