Kerala High Court Says Government Must Decide on ‘Dr’ Prefix Issue

Hearing an appeal filed by the Indian Medical Association and the Indian Association of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation against a single-bench verdict permitting such usage, a Division Bench of Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice P.V. Balakrishnan orally remarked that courts cannot legislate. The Bench asked the appellants to make a representation to the competent authority, stating that any change must come through statutory amendment.
