Galatians - Sorry, the scripture dropped after a few minutes. See the version at the top that doesn't say (uned) in the title for completeness. We now use OBS, Open Broadcaster Software. *Every video recorded on YouTube has dropped the scripture at some point with no indication. We can still see self's little window over the scripture even though the verses are not seen. Galatians was possibly the first of Paul's letters to the churches he visited on his missionary journeys, written around 48-54 AD . There are a number of unique passages and verses unique to Galatians listed below: "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified." 2:16 "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." 2:20 "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." 3:28 "A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump." 5:9 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." 5:22-3 "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." 6:7 "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.' 6:9 In Chapter 1, verses 8 & 9, Paul emphasizes the gospel of Jesus Christ adding that those who preach otherwise be accursed. He repeats this again in verse nine saying let him who preaches a gospel other than that of Christ, let him be accursed. Paul allegorically compares the lineage of Ishmael and Isaac, recognizing that one is a bastard son leading to Islam with Muhammad in the seventh century, the latter leading to salvation and new Jerusalem in Heaven because of Christ's salvation. The problem he mentions is with those to whom he is preaching which is the same with the Cretans in Titus or the Thessalonians. Some of the ethnically Jewish Christians were trying to put people back under circumcision another term for the law of Moses and Judaism. The problem with that is the law saves no one. Only Jesus' amazing grace can save us as stated in chapter 2, v. 16 above. He exhorts fellow Christians to support one another and not be weary in well doing. We see he is right for this life is a vapor Jesus having come and gone accomplishing His mission to save us all from our sins. And so we must look to Christ as the Way, not the law of Moses which only convicts of our sin & does not save us from the wages of sin as Christ's death on the Cross has done. Those who attempt to go back under the law are doomed to die without Christ. We know that Paul disapproved of women teaching & preaching. Paul & the other disciples were persecuted by the Jewish culture in general who were ignorant of Christ's teachings. Most of them were still reading the Old Testament not believing in Christ. And so they were dissembling at whichever Jewish synagogue Paul & the disciples preached at. This included many well to do men and women from that culture, so the persecution became great to Paul and all the apostles. **Paul probably thought it better for most ethnically Jewish women not to speak. They were persecuting him & so denying the possibility of Christ's salvation.** There were no women of that time that could teach or preach a Bible that didn't exist except as manuscripts. They didn't have the New Testament. God breathed Galatians 3:28 thru Paul, "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." Galatians 3:28 applies to women now. Many of our best school teachers were women. Should we & can we deny women equal rights? Women are free in Christ, yet many cannot vote or drive to this day. Anyone teaching or preaching best be preaching the true Gospel of Christ and not heresy. Paul sought to avoid that. We read 1Cor14 and 1Tim2 in the context of Paul's time & Jewish culture. Then we have a clue as to why Paul included those controversial passages. He was being persecuted by ethnically Jewish women & men in the synagogues who had zero knowledge of Christ. They rejected Christ already. Don't judge Paul. We might have said the same in his place. We prayed about it a long time. Galatians is an illustration of the persecution Paul and the other apostles had from ethnically Jewish women and men.
