With the announcement of the withdrawal of the current rolling stock used on the Tyne and Wear Metro in Newcastle. Operated by Nexus we find ourselves in the North East to capture the current operations of the T&W Metro trains with the oldest stock on the network being built back in 1980 and still in use today. Over 15 hours spread across two days we visit all 60 stations on the network: We start at St James and head towards the Coast via Tynemouth, where we head back towards Newcastle via South Gosforth. We then head south towards Pelaw and onto South Shields. We then start again back at Newcastle Airport and cover the branch down to Regent Centre where we pick up the same stations towards Pelaw. From Pelaw we head down towards Sunderland and onto South Hylton where we complete the whole network: Something a little bit different for our channel but we hope you enjoy a little taste of what smaller Rapid Transit networks have to offer:
