For many Black Women, a layoff doesn’t just end a job — it rewires the nervous system. Even after you land on your feet, you may still feel anxious, hyper-alert, emotionally numb, or afraid to trust any workplace again. Emails trigger panic. Meetings feel unsafe. Stability feels temporary. And people expect you to “be grateful” you survived — without acknowledging the trauma left behind. That experience has a name: post-layoff PTSD. In this powerful LIVE conversation, I sit down with Liz McLemore, Product Manager, to talk honestly about the psychological and emotional aftermath of job loss — especially for Black Women who were laid off after over performing, staying loyal, and carrying teams that didn’t protect them. We will explore how layoffs can create trauma responses similar to PTSD, why Black Women are especially vulnerable due to chronic workplace stress and instability, and how post-layoff fear can quietly shape confidence, career decisions, and self-worth long after the paycheck stops. If you’ve been telling yourself, “I should be over this by now,” this conversation is for you. You are not weak. You are not dramatic. Your body remembers what your mind was forced to endure. Join us for a validating, grounding conversation about post-layoff PTSD and the path toward recovery.
