NYPD officers Acosta, Tavarez, Lamonica, and Coissy responded to the scene and encountered 60-year-old King Wong, who was seen standing in the middle of the street brandishing a knife. Despite repeated commands to drop the weapon and multiple attempts to subdue him with Tasers, Wong refused to comply and continued moving with the knife in his hand. Officers were ultimately forced to open fire, discharging several rounds. Wong was struck multiple times and later pronounced deceased at NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst.
