Origin of the Lombards (Langobards)

The Langobards, together with the Keltic people in the south of the Alps, gave birth to the modern Lombards. The modern Lombards always felt a connection with Germans and Scandinavian people. Their nation of Lombardia, now occupied by the state of Italy and by italians (against the will of most of the Lombards), has a strong Langobardic heritage, so much that most people have Langobardic last names and some of them, like me, have two last names, from both parents, of pure Langobardic origin.
