Back in the 70's and 80's Arbour Models introduced a wide selection of steam engine kits. With heavy, all metal construction, many high quality components, and a good level of detail, they should have been one of the great kit manufacturers of their day. Unfortunately, the engineers making some of the most important castings weren't paying attention to what they were doing, and the result was kits with poor fitting parts that were difficult to assemble and make into running models. Of course, no model train manufacturer can survive for long like this, and the failure of Arbour Models kits practically became legendary. And now, I've acquired the 2-8-4 Kanawha, one of their poorest made kits next to the 2-6-6-6 Allegheny, and I'm going to build it and make it into the great looking and running model it was meant to be! I hope you all enjoy following along as I accomplish this, because it won't be easy!
