On July 25th 2012, a game titled Akemi Tan was published in the “horror games” category of the site “Freegame-mugen.jp, a still fairly active japanese site today, where free games of all kinds are published. Akemi tan was initially published for that site but in 2014, the game was made available in english in a site called “rpgmaker.net. What’s interesting about this game is that the publisher himself, kona5, published the game on the site on his own. The game received mixed reception from the the two different sites. On rpgmaker it was accepted with praise while the japanese site, fans were not too eager because of its simplistic gameplay and its reliance on heavy jumpscare.
