10-car Fremont train completing its weekday journey at Fremont Station in the East Bay, as the second half of the evening rush takes place all across BART. Fremont geographically is the southernmost point in the BART system, and the final stop for all trains headed toward San Jose and the South Bay. After a brief stay in Fremont, out-of-service trains depart for the agency's Hayward maintenance yard located about six (6) minutes away and just north of Union City Station. Travelers headed toward San Francisco and the peninsula can catch a San Francisco-bound train here anytime up through 5:51pm Monday through Saturday only. During all other operating hours, passengers must take the Richmond train and transfer four (4) stops later at Bay Fair Station in San Leandro. Tri-Valley and Eastern Contra Costa County-bound passengers can board any in-service destination here and transfer down the line to a Dublin/Pleasanton or Pittsburg/Bay Point train.
