Following a Crucified Christ - 8March26

Christ Covenant Reformed Church March 8, 2026, in this message (Matthew 17:9-23) we return to Matthew’s Gospel just after the Transfiguration and see Jesus once again bringing His disciples back to the same theme. No matter the victories or the mountaintop moments, He keeps reminding them that the Son of Man must suffer, be betrayed, and be killed, and on the third day be raised again. The pattern becomes clear. There is glory on the mountain, but there is always a descent back into the valley where brokenness, unbelief, and suffering remain. That rhythm reflects the Christian life itself. We are strengthened in moments of grace and worship, yet we are still called to follow Christ down the mountain, take up the cross, and face the world with faithfulness. Along the way Jesus also reminds His disciples that the restoration of all things has already begun. Elijah has come, the cross will accomplish God’s purpose, and through faith in Christ the work of healing and restoration continues. Even when life feels fragmented or beyond repair, the same Lord who created all things is able to gather the pieces and set them right again.
