Motor Development and Autism Description This webinar will discuss how children with ASD and DCD may develop gross motor skills along a different trajectory than typically developing peers. How to assess children's gross motor skills and create motivating environments to encourage the development of gross motor skills will be discussed. Additionally, best-practice suggestions for incorporating healthy lifestyle habits and activities for children with different abilities will be presented. Speaker Robbie O'Shea, PT, DPT, PhD Governors State University Dr. Robbie OShea, PT, DPT, Ph.D. is a full professor at Governors State University, where she teaches in the physical therapy program. Clinically, she works with a multidisciplinary Early Intervention program that includes children with IFSP and typically developing children. She has been a physical therapist for over 30 years. She has authored numerous articles, book chapters, and textbooks and presented nationally and internationally on motor development in children with motor impairments.
