"I fell in love at first sight. And told myself, I will buy that Z one day.” - Yuchi Katoh Directed and filmed by: Ken Mitsui Music: Chris French During the summer I filmed a short car documentary in Tokyo, Japan. As some of you may know, I’ve always been intrigued by the Japanese sports cars of the 90’s. They were overpowered, affordable, technologically advanced for its time, and each manufacturer were unique in their own style. In the recent years, many of Japanese car corporations are relying on western engineers to design the outer bodies of their car line ups. In the last decade most Japanese car companies are building their cars domestically in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. All this is becoming a cost effective trend that’s no longer focused on originality, creativity, and craftsmanship. Yuichi Katoh is an inspiration to the Japanese sports car enthusiasts. Despite extremely high taxes for registering older vehicles. Yuchi continues to drive his Z in the streets of Tokyo. Thank you Yuichi-san for driving me all over Tokyo until 4 AM. I couldn’t have completed this with out your support from you and your friends.
