These were during the last 10 days (Nights of 21-26) of Ramadan 2024 (1445 Hijri). The start time for Tarawih prayer is 9 pm and normally ends between 10:15 to 10:45 pm depending on odd or even nights. The tahajjud prayer starts around 3 am and should end around 4:30 am. Witr is last 3 and with a beautiful, long and heart-touching du'a qunoot supplications. Mahmoud Gamal is Hafiz with Ijazah in Hafs and Shueba An Asem. He is a native arabic speaker who has many years experience in teaching The Holy Qur'an online. He is excellent in teaching Qur'an, Tajweed rules, Arabic Language and Islamic Studies (Tafseer- Fiqh- Aqidah). He is graduated from Al-Azhar University. Imam Mahmoud Gamal served previously as the Head of Islamic Cultural Center of New York, NY. Prior to that he was the Head of ICC of Hurghada for Languages with the Egyptian Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs. He replaced the former Imam Khizer Ali who graduated from Medina University. About NHIC: The New Haven Islamic Center (NHIC) started as a small congregational prayer location for University of New Haven’s students in 1978 and evolved to host and serve the community since the 1980s. NHIC has always maintained open doors to all community members from around the world and enjoys congregants from over 100+ nationalities! The following is a short timeline of our organization’s history. 1978: A group of UNH students bought a house to use as a prayer area. Late 1980s: More students and some local Muslims started praying at the house in congregation. 1990: The Masjid was remodeled & enlarged to meet the needs of the Muslims. Mid/Late 1990s: The West Haven community was formally acknowledged and established. 2000-Present: The community has grown tremendously. The Taraweeh prayer is prayed two rakahs at a time and the prayer is a loud prayed rather than a quite prayer. When you get into the mosque, they will lead Isha prayer first, have some time (where you can pray your sunnah prayer) or do some dhikr and then start with 2 rakaats of tarawih.
