Gene Siskel (died Feb '99) and Roger Ebert (recovering from cancer and no longer w/TV show), review the third Indy movie of 'Last Crusade' when it first debuted back in 1989. Interesting that there is not ONE speak by them of 1984's Indy 2 'Temple of Doom' for any reflective follow-up - being more reliant on the first 'Raiders' film from '81. (was T.O.D. actually 'that' bad?!) Siskel says it decisively from the start - that this film is the -- "LAST Indiana Jones adventure" -- [ahem] with praise for a slam-bang ending, but gives it a reluctant thumbs down - frowning on its lack of humanity, and the 'father-son' match-up between Connery and Ford. Ebert applied an enthusiastic thumbs-UP for the art and effects, stating it may have been wise of Speilberg to 'end it at this point' he also decribes 'why he goes' to watch the Indy movies. Roger's still active and reviews the latest films, but only online, at: http://rogerebert.suntimes.com
