Over the past century, there has been a rising dispute between Iranians and Arabs regarding the historical sea they both look onto. One side terms it the Persian Gulf. The other, the Arabian Gulf. History and geographic books rest with the Iranian camp. Evidence in antiquity is by far heavily leaning towards the name Persian, and when there are some references to others, none come as Arabian.
